EU 2016/17 wheat exports reach 16.5mn T, 235,000 T this week

PARIS: European Union soft wheat exports in the 2016/17 season had reached 16.5 million tonnes by March 7, down 13 percent from 19.05 million exported by the same point last season, official data showed on Thursday.

In the latest reporting week, the EU exported 235,000 tonnes of soft wheat, on the basis of a revised week-earlier total of 16.3 million tonnes, the data showed.

EU barley exports so far this season were 3.2 million tonnes, down 59 percent from a year earlier, while cumulative EU maize imports were 7.4 million tonnes, down 24 percent.
