Unilever Pakistan Limited has organised and hosted the launch of a book - Mo's Star, in collaboration with Oxford University Press Pakistan, Project Reaching for the Stars and The Citizen's Foundation at a local hotel here on Wednesday.
Mo's Star, a book written by Mahnz Malik, an award-winning international lawyer and author, has been illustrated by the renowned American artist, Cora Lynn Deibler. Both Mo's Star and its Urdu version Mo Ka Tara, translated by Fahmida Riaz, have been published in Pakistan by Oxford University Press.
The book, meant for three to five years old children, is a story of a small penguin who firmly believes that he can reach the stars and who, continues to persevere despite many obstacles and eventually succeeds.
All sales proceeds of the book will go towards supporting The Citizen Foundation planned network of 1000 primary and secondary schools, which will accommodate 350,000 children.
Speakers at the launch function included Mahnaz Malik, Cora Lynn Deibler, Ahsan Saleem, Chairman The Citizen Foundation, Fahmida Riaz, Michael Radford, Musharaf Hai, Chairman, Unilever Pakistan and Ameena Saiyid, Managing Director, Oxford University Press.
Vidya Balan and Mahnaz Malik read out from Mo's Star. Mahnaz Malik and Cora Lynn Deibler will also visit schools during the rest of the week in Karachi to introduce the book to children and to hold story-telling sessions.
