In the back drop of recent earthquake disaster and consequent reconstruction efforts, future seismic rezoning, revision needs of building codes and bylaws throughout the country to ensure safe and quality based building construction standards in future, a mega event 'SBCN Asia 2006--Safe and Quality Buildings Industry in Asia' is being held in the city on March 28-29.
The two-day event comprises an exhibition of building materials and services and an international conference. According to organisers of the event, a sizable number of stalls had already been booked for the exhibition. The event, interalia, would provide an opportunity of strengthening construction, added investments and interaction between the public and private sectors.
Being organised by The Development Times in collaboration with Civil Engineering Department, University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, co-operation is also being extended by House Building Finance Corporation, Nespak, Association of Co-operative Housing Societies, Pakistan Institute of City and Regional Planners, Engineers Study Forum, Land Mark Architects , Architects and Engineers Society of Pakistan.
Moreover some Malaysian companies are also expected to participate in the event. Experts would be presenting technical papers in the conference on various aspects of the subject of safe and quality buildings construction industry in Asia.
