Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Ziaul Hassan Khan has directed the concerned district police officers (DPOs) to take strict disciplinary action against three SHOs for irregularities. The IGP issued the direction on the reports of SPs of inspection and vigilance cell that paid surprise visits to three police stations of Hafizabad, Bahawalpur and Muzaffargarh districts.
According to a Punjab police spokesman, SSP Khaliq Dad Luk paid visit to police station Sama Satta, Bahawalpur where he found both the SHO and Moharar absent from duty.
He also recovered a club and a rope from a room of the police station which was allegedly to be used for torturing detainees. Upon this, the SSP suggested a disciplinary action against the SHO and the Moharar.
Similarly, SP Ali Kiyani during his visit to Saddar Police Station, Hafizabad found that 5 persons were kept in illegal confinement in the police station, case diary of 35 cases was also missing besides other irregularities.
