National Accountability Bureau team (NAB) led by Sadiq Beg visited Hyderabad to probe Rs 20 million alleged corruption committed by ex-president of Jaycees International Hyderabad Chapter (an international NGO) and collected the record and evidence from leaders of Action Committee of Hyderabad Jaycees.
The action committee comprising Iqbal Sheikh, Aslam Sheikh, Mir Mohammed, Khuram Afzaal and Mohammed Nadeem Khan had levelled allegations against the presidents of HJ that they had misappropriated funds of more than Rs 20 million, which they had shown to have been spent on 429 projects but had not audited its accounts for last 15 years.
The action committee first submitted application to District Officer Social Welfare Department Nayyar Malik on October 24, 2002 on whose report provincial co-ordinator social welfare/ registration authority, government of Sindh Qurban Ali Memon suspended then president HJ, Mustansar Ahmed and his executive committee under his order No F-4-54 (H) 88-DSW(VA) 5629 dated 31-10-2003.
He directed Social Welfare Officer Hyderabad City Nadeem Ahmed Sheikh to arrange audit of the accounts of HJ and hold election in 90 days but the social welfare officer Hyderabad so far failed to arrange audit of funds and organise the elections.
On application of the action committee the Director Anti-Corruption Sindh has asked Deputy Director ACE Sindh to hold enquiry.
On another application of action committee the NAB team visited Hyderbad on Wednesday and took over record from the action committee. Meanwhile, Secretary Home Department government of Sindh has asked Deputy District Officer Nadeem Ahmed Sheikh under his letter No 12/84/2003-CEL dated 3-6-2003 to contact Exit Control List to include names of those involved in corruption of JH funds in ECL.
