Lahore Electricity Supply Company (Lesco) on the special directive of Chairman WAPDA has electrified 153 villages in Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Lahore districts, at a cost of Rs 22.58 million during the first eight months of the current fiscal year.
Chief engineer Lesco Mohammad Akram Arain told APP here on Monday that these villages were electrified under Tameer-e-Pakistan Programme, Local Government and Rural Development, Tameer-e-Punjab and Khushali-e-Pakistan programmes.
He said: "Quality material is being procured on priority basis for electrification of 300 other villages."
Xens and SDOs serving in different distribution formations of Lesco have been directed to sanction energy connections to desirous applicants of these newly electrified villages under the one window operation, he added.
