imageFAISALABAD: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) has accomplished marked achievements since its inception and is committed to growth of trade and industry in Faisalabad, President (FCCI) Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz said.

In an exclusive talk with APP, he said FCCI, with more than 500 members, has been ranked second in revenue generation. FCCI was established in 1975 and it has played a proactive role in resolving the issues confronted by business community, he said.

Muhammad Nawaz observed that FCCI is the first green chamber of Pakistan as it has switched from traditional electricity to solar system.

"Faisalabad chamber also tries its best to promote direct linkages between the business communities of different countries and in this connection FCCI delegations visited various countries which helped business community strengthen relations with their counterparts there", he said.

President FCCI disclosed that visa facilitation was yet another success of FCCI. "We have made arrangements with Chinese embassy to issue business visas on the recommendations of FCCI. Similar arrangements were also being made with other embassies which will particularly help the SME sector to play its dynamic role in enhancing exports to these countries".

He noted that there are approximately 230,000 (standard, auto and shuttles) power looms in different areas of Faisalabad which not only cater to the needs of local market but also play a major role in meeting the export demands.

Faisalabad is house to some 85 textile spinning mills, 250 textile processing, printing and finishing mills, 125 sizing industries, 6 sugar mills, 250 foundries, 8 power generation, 12 rice mills, 59 soap, 400 embroidery units, 1000 hosiery & knitwear units, 25 cotton ginning factories,4 vegetable ghee &cooking oil, 45 flour mills and 21 confectionaries units, a fibre plant (largest in the country) and 3 chemical plants.
