imageISLAMABAD: The Federal government has so far released Rs6832 million to Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) under development portfolio during the current financial year.

The total development portfolio is Rs17.08 billion, reflected in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) (local component) for 2014-15.

Sources at Ministry of States and Frontier Regions told this scribe these funds have further been released to sector/sub- sectors of FATA Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2014-15.

The sources said with this investment, the living condition of FATA people will improve to some extent. As per development guidelines approved by Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) for 2014-15, most of the schemes involve consolidation, strengthening, up-gradation and rehabilitation of existing government facilities rather than further proliferation of small schemes.

They said greater emphasis has been placed on service delivery rather than brick and mortar activities. Moreover, the shortage of human resource in FATA has also been catered through the development portfolio.
