No more ‘Khara Sach’ with Mubashir Lucman

Published October 20, 2014 Updated October 20, 2014 10:01am

imagePakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has banned Mubashir Luqman’s ‘Khara Sach’ on Ary News and has notified the anchor not to participate in any TV program on any TV channel until final adjudication.

According to local media reports, the decision was taken in compliance with the Lahore High Court (LHC). To ensure with immediate effect that Mubashir Lucman does not participate in any program on ARY News or on any other TV channel being aired in Pakistan, either as a host or as an observer or as a participant, court orders have been circulated to all satellite TV channels (News & Current Affairs) requesting them to comply.

The Court has taken action against Mubasher Lucman for airing the interview of Asim Malik in a manner that was perceived as an attempt to slander the superior judiciary and its judges.

On the other hand, police thrice raided the house of Mubasher Luqman to arrest him even though he had received bail before arrest. According to reports, police entered his house, took photos of his family and house without authorization, media reported.

Mubasher Lucman also took to twitter and expressed his fear for the safety of his family. He tweeted, “The lives of my children and myself are in serious danger now. Anything can happen. Need your prayers”.

He also posted on twitter saying, “Even if I am silenced or sent to prison the evidences I gave on television against so many including the PM must be taken up by courts”.

People are protesting against the judicial order and calling it an attempt to ban ‘freedom of speech’.
