Facebook earnings jump to $642mn on 72pc revenue gain

NEW YORK: Facebook profits jumped to $642 million in the first quarter on a 72 percent surge in revenues, helped by gains in mobile users and mobile advertising, the company reported Wednesday.

Advertising revenues were up 82 percent from a year ago, and earnings from mobile ads comprised 59 percent of that, compared with 53 percent in the fourth quarter of last year.
