imageKARACHI: President Mamnoon Hussain Friday called upon the business community and entrepreneurs to come forward and play their active role to further augment the ongoing process of economic turnaround.

The President made these remarks in a meeting with a delegation of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), led by Zakriyya Usman at the State Guest House here.

The President felicitated Zakriyya Usman on assuming the office of the President FPCCI and expressed hope that the newly elected cabinet, headed by Zakriyya Usman, would work for welfare and promotion of the business community.

He hoped that they would also continue to play its positive role in country's economic progress and prosperity.

He urged the business community to help the government in its efforts to harness the vast trade and investment potential, the country offers in diverse fields.

Underscoring the important role of business community in the development of the country, the President said that Pakistan has been endowed with enormous potential in almost every field which needed to be harnessed with the help of business community for the progress and prosperity of the country.

Commenting on the business-friendly policies of the government, he said that the multi-pronged strategies and initiatives devised by the present government for economic revival, were paying dividends.

These strategies have also led to the restoration of the confidence of the international and domestic investors to invest in Pakistan's potential economic sectors, especially energy, infrastructure and communications, he added.

President Mamnoon said that the recent positive response of the international investors to the Eurobonds, launched by the government, demonstrated the appreciation and confidence of the international investors in the economic policies and reforms introduced by the government.

He said the government, while pursuing its business friendly policies, was committed to facilitating business community and investors.

He assured that all out efforts were being made to provide an enabling environment to local and foreign businesses in the country.

Later, in an interactive session, the newly elected office bearers of the FPCCI discussed with the President various issues and problems of the business community and also suggested certain steps and measures for economic revival of the country.

The President assured that the government was receptive to the invaluable suggestions of the business community and urged them to share their valuable ideas and suggestions with the government to enhance economic growth and development.

The delegation assured the President that FPCCI would continue making its positive contributions towards national economy.
