ISLAMABAD: The Privatization Commission has earned Rs 349.652 billion through the privatization of 49 transactions from the year 2002 to 2008.
According to a Privatisation Commission source Rs 225.655 billion had been utilised for debt retirement from 2002 to 2008. Rs 108.283 billion had been utilized by DFIs while Rs 16.716 billion had been paid as Golden Handshake (GHS) and Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) to the employees of privatized institutions.
Out of a total Rs 349.652 billion earned by the Privatisation Commission from 2002 to 2008, a sum of Rs 22.970 billion were earned in 2003, Rs 32.733 billion in 2004, Rs 43.497 billion in 2005, Rs 128.818 billion in 2006, Rs 109.473 billion in 2007 and Rs 12.161 billion had been earned by privatization of government entities in 2008.
Out of a total of 16.716 billion paid from 2002 to 2008, Rs 24 million had been paid in 2003 to employees either in golden shake hand scheme or voluntary separation scheme. Rs 71 million to employees in GHS/VSS in 2004, Rs 255 million in 2005, Rs 568 million in 2006, Rs 531 million in 2007 and a whooping Rs 15.265 billion had been paid as GHS/VSS to employees during 2008.
Out of a total of 108.283 billion utilized by DFI?s from 2002 to 2008, Rs 14.383 billion had been utilized by other agencies in 2004, Rs 12.626 billion in 2004, Rs 6.256 billion in 2005, Rs 23.301 billion in 2006, Rs 34.476 billion in 2007 and Rs 17.241 billion in 2008.
A total of Rs 225.655 billion had been utilized from 2003 to 2008 for debt retirement included Rs 10.748 billion in 2003, Rs 11.212 billion in 2004, Rs 28.360 billion in 2005, Rs 97.259 billion in 2006, Rs76.425 billion in 2007, 1.650 billion in 2008.
