Testing capacity increases, safety measures implemented to control COVID-19 cases in Pakistan: Dr Mirza

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Dr Zafar Mirza on Tuesday said the government was increasing testing capacity from 25000 to 30,000 per day besides implementing strict safety measures to control COVID-19 cases.
Talking to a private news channel, he said, "we have sufficient kits to check the people affected with coronavirus." There was no shortage of any such material in the public sector hospitals, he added.
Commenting on World Health Organization (WHO), and lockdown policy, he said the prediction and assessment shared by WHO with Pakistan about rising number of cases was true.
He said the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), government had already taken all possible measures to protect people from the spreading virus.
As far as lockdown policy was concerned, he said complete lockdown was not a solution to any problem. He, however said that strict implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other safety measures would be ensured to combat the COVID-19.
