Benchmark copper on the London Metal Exchange (LME) hit $6,850 a tonne, its highest since June 2018.
Copper has surged by 55% since hitting 45-month lows in March.

December white sugar rose $1.9, or 0.5%, to $366.30 a tonne, having hit its highest in nearly a month at $372.50.
December arabica coffee edged up 0.4 cents, or 0.3%, to $1.1840 per lb, following four consecutive days of losses.

Tunisia buys barley and durum in tender, no soft wheat

The grains can all be sourced from optional origins. The agency made no purchase of up to 42,000 tonnes of soft wheat also sought because of high prices.
The barley was bought in three 25,000 tonne consignments: with sellers said to be Dreyfus at $225.47 a tonne c&f, Glencore at $226.75 a tonne c&f and Aston at $223.00 a tonne c&f.
