ISLAMABAD: Pak-China Joint Energy Working Group (JEWG) two-day meeting will be held in Islamabad from Monday to discuss cooperation in the energy sector.
Federal Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar will represent Pakistan, while the Chinese side will be headed by Wu Hui, said a press release issued here on Saturday.
High level delegations of China will arrive Pakistan on Sunday. This is second meeting of JEWG. Previous meeting was held in Beijing last year in July.
In two-day meeting various projects of water and power initiated with the support of China would be discussed in detail.
Pakistan has proposed a joint venture and technical and financial support in various projects of Coal, Water, Power and Tharmal, Nuclear energy and alternative energy, including 2000 MW coal, 7000 MW water and power and construction of transmission lines and other projects.
Federal Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar said that all possible efforts are being made to end the energy crisis in the country.
He said that with Chinese support the energy sector projects would be completed soon.
The minister said that with the completion of these projects, energy crisis would end as it will also fulfill our future requirements.
Naveed Qamar said that Pakistan and China are enjoying time tested relations and Pakistan always feel proud on China friendship.
He said that China always supported Pakistan and also want to extend cooperation in the energy sector.
