HAMBURG: The Ethiopian government has issued another international tender to buy about 75,000 tonnes of milling wheat, continuing a series of tenders issued in recent weeks, European traders said on Monday.

The tender deadline is Dec. 18.

The new issue means Ethiopia currently has tenders for some 830,000 tonnes of wheat in the international market.

Ethiopia is still struggling with the impact of drought which has devastated farms in some regions.

One tender for 400,000 tonnes closed on Nov. 25 and another for 200,000 tonnes closed on Nov. 26.

Separate tenders for 80,000 tonnes also closed on Nov. 26 and for 75,000 tonnes on Dec. 6.

Price offers submitted in the previous tenders are still being considered and no purchases have yet been reported, traders said.

Finance for the latest tender on Dec. 18 is being provided by the World Bank's International Development Association (IDA) and other aid organisations, they said.
