HAMBURG: Jordan's state grains buyer purchased 60,000 tonnes of hard milling wheat to be sourced from optional origins in a tender for up to 120,000 tonnes that closed on Tuesday, traders said.

It was bought at $213 a tonne c&f for shipment in the second half of September.

The seller was said to be trading house Ameropa.

One other trading company took part in the tender, Nibulon, which offered $219 a tonne c&f but for shipment in October.

Jordan has faced difficulties buying wheat and barley in tenders in past months after changes to terms for quality specifications and payment reduced participation by international trading houses.

Other international wheat tenders from Jordan ended without purchases on April 30, April 23, April 16 and April 9. Jordan's last reported wheat tender that ended in a purchase was for 60,000 tonnes, on April 2.

The tender on Tuesday had sought shipment in a range of possible combinations in 60,000-tonne consignments. Possible shipment periods were Sept. 16-30, Oct. 1-15 and Oct. 16-31.
