PARIS: Algeria's state grains agency OAIC purchased at least 200,000 tonnes of durum wheat for June shipment in a tender which closed last week, European traders said on Monday. It was purchased at $268 to $270 a tonne, cost and freight included, they said.

The durum was optional origin but was likely to be mainly sourced from Canada. Some traders said it could all come from Canada, which is more competitive on price than Mexico, another large durum exporter.

The tender had closed on Wednesday. The tender was for shipment between June 1-15 and June 16-30.

Algeria does not disclose the results of its tenders and purchase reports are based on trade assessments.
