Two Kashmiri dry fruit vendors were beaten up in broad daylight on a street in Lucknow by members of a right-wing outfit, the video of which has gone viral on social media.

The video shows the two vendors being thrashed in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow by members of a right-wing outfit for being Kashmiris. According to Indian media reports, one of the attackers has been arrested after the video went viral on social media showing two Kashmiri vendors being harassed.

The video shows two men in saffron-coloured kurtas beating up a vendor with stick, while the vendor is hurriedly packing up his stuff. A man in a red jacket comes to the aid of the vendor and asks the men why they are attacking the vendor.

One of the attackers replies, "He is a Kashmiri". The attackers also demand the vendor to show his identity card.

The other video shows a vendor crying and screaming in pain as men hit him with sticks. The vendor runs away crying, while the saffron-clad men chase him.

These videos sparked outrage and resulted in the Lucknow police arresting one of the attackers and promising strict action against him. Following the Pulwama attack last month, the Supreme Court had ordered protection of the Kashmiris, especially the students and minorities in India.

The court had ordered state governments and police chiefs to ensure there are no 'attacks, threats or social boycott'.
