KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Education, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, has said that the provincial Government is taking all possible measures to improve educational standard in the province.
This he pointed out in a statement issued here on Monday.
While commenting on the meeting of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA), the Minister said that he has great respect for teachers and professors and he even can not think of disgracing teachers, as the teaching is a sacred profession.
Pir Mazhar said that those who got education from Sindh's education institutions are working on high posts and brought a good name for the province.
He advised the office-bearers of SPLA to heed towards study of the students because the examinations are drawing near and avoid politics. The Minister further pointed out that no teacher has been victimized.
He stated that a comprehensive policy has been chalked out to appoint Principals of the colleges, where it is needed and that appropriate funds are being provided to improve infrastructure of the schools and colleges buildings.
Pir Mazhar said that he had never threatened any teacher and that he would continue his efforts to provide better education facilities to poor children of the province.
He said that it was a great achievement of the present democratic government, following vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, to spread education to the every nook and corner of the province irrespective of any political affiliation.
The Minister requested to the teachers community not to pay attention towards rumours and work for the children of Sindh.
He denied that his coordinator Navaid Zubair was directing Principals and teachers to work according to his wishes.
Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq further said that longstanding issue of promotion was solved. 683 college teachers were promoted from 18 to grade 19, 1,329 were promoted from 17 grades to 18 while 100 college teachers were promoted from grade 19 to 20 grade.
Besides this 500 adhoc teachers were made permanent and 2,480 teachers were appointed through Sindh Public Service Commission on merit basis.
