The Karachi Port handled 166,974 tonnes of cargo comprising 97,848 tonnes of import cargo and 69,126 tonnes of export cargo including 5,030 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 97,848 tonnes comprised of 26,090 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,700 tonnes of rock phosphate; 25,732 tonnes of coal and 41,326 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 69,126 tonnes comprised of 35,768 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30,298 tonnes of clinkers and 3,060 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,030 containers comprising of 1,679 containers import and 3,351 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 507 of 20's and 574 of 40's loaded while 24 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 617 of 20's and 616 of 40's loaded containers while 368 of 20's and 567 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were six ships namely Hyundai Brave, Talassa, Bomar Hermes, MT Shalamar, Amis Hero and Metsovo carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. MOL Glove, KMTC Dubai, MSC Lana, Hansa Offenburg, Maersk Torshavn and Ocean Splendor carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 174,086 tonnes comprising 133,293 tonnes of import cargo and 40,793 tonnes of export cargo including 3,844 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 133,293 tonnes includes 9,324 tonnes of diesel oil; 9,877 tonnes of palm oil; 14,399 tonnes of coal; 56,900 tonnes of LNG; 7,550 tonnes of canola seeds; 3,000 tonnes of chemical; 1,201 tonnes of LPG and 32,243 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,793 tonnes includes 40,793 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,844 containers comprising of 1,697 containers import and 2,147 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely MV YM Miranda carrying chemical sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Athos and CV Maersk Kensington carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV MSC Athos, CV Maersk Kensington, CV MOL Globe, CV GSL Tianjin, MV YM Miranda, MV Dewi Saras Wati, MV Forever SW, MV Coventry, MT Methane Jane Elizabeth, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Eva Bergen were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, chemical, kernel, coal, canola seeds, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eighteen ships namely MV Reem-3, MV Ocean Princess-1, MV Amadeus, MV Stahia, MV Sunrise Serinity, MV Engia Dina, MT Al Deebal, MT Maria-III, MT Omera Legacy, MT Lion-M, MT Sea Luck-III, MT Sovereign, MT Wall Eye, MT Silver Entalina, MT Capella, MT Eva Bergen, MT Madeiro and MT BW Cobalt carrying bitumen, soyabean, coal, kernel, LNG, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Athenian, MV Reem-III, MV Sunrise Serenity, MV Octaden and MT Al Deebal carrying containers, bitumen, coal, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were four ships namely CV MSC Samantha, CV Athenian, CV GSL Tianjin and CV Hansa America carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
