Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Sunday questioned the prolonged trial of Sharif family in the accountability court and spending of huge money from the national exchequer on the trial despite 'ample evidence' available against them.
The PTI chairman took to the twitter and expressed his views on the ongoing trial of Sharif family in the accountability court, as Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday directed the accountability court to announce decision on all three corruption references against Sharif family within a month.
"Statement by NAB prosecutor that there is now ample evidence to show that Avenfield apartments belonged to Nawaz Sharif since 1993, shows how the law works differently for the ordinary citizen and for the powerful. This is our tragedy - existence of 2 parallel Pakistan," Khan tweeted.
He stated that the PML-N's former ministers and many media people knew about these flats since Panama Papers leaks surfaced. "After all, pol mtgs [political meetings] & interviews were held there but they just watched as PM NS [Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif] lied abt [about] money laundering, committed fraud & forgery, made his children lie," he stated in yet another tweet.
"Public money spent on SC [Supreme Court] hearings, JIT [joint investigation team], NAB [National Accountability Bureau] court & conviction still pending. This reflects collapse of morality; weak infrastructures. Where in a Western democracy would one see a PM indulging in lies, money laundering & fraud & then shamelessly claiming victimhood when exposed, the PTI chairman posed a question through another tweet.
Earlier in the day, in Lahore registry of Supreme Court, a two-member bench headed by the Chief Justice while hearing the petition seeking further extension for the conclusion of trials against Nawaz Sharif and his family, gave another extension to conclude the hearings on corruption references in the accountability court within a month.
