A mixed trend in prices of essential food commodities was witnessed in the previous week as compared to last week, according to survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday. The survey noticed that prices of vegetable, pulses, dates, beverages, fruits, sugar except chicken meat, beef, cow meat, have slightly decreased in retail market.
A slight increase in price of chicken was witnessed at available at Rs 178 per kilogram in retail market, which was selling at Rs 172 per kilogram in the previous week. A dozen of farm eggs are being available at Rs 100-90 in retail market, the survey said.
It was noticed that prices of some veggies have gone down while other remained unchanged in retail market.
Tomatoes are being sold at Rs 20 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 30 per kg during last week, the survey said. Ginger is available at Rs 200 per kilo against the rate of Rs 240 per kg in the previous week.
Garlic priced at Rs 80 per kg, which was selling at Rs 100 per kg in last week, while a one-kilogram onion decreased at Rs 30 per kilogram from Rs 40 per kg in retail market. Lemon is being sold at Rs 200 per kilogram.
A kilogram-red potato is being sold at Rs 25 against the price of Rs 30 per kilogram in last week, while white-colour potato was available at Rs 20 per kilogram in retail market.
Arvi is being sold at Rs 70 per kilogram which was selling at Rs 100 per kilogram in retail market, while peas are available at Rs 120 per kg against the price of Rs 150 per kg in last week. Ladyfinger is being sold at Rs 60-70 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 100 per kg in the previous week.
An increase of Rs 5 per kilogram was witnessed in price of good quality rice (sela) in retail market, as available at Rs 145 per kilogram which was selling at Rs 140 per kilogram in the previous week. However, the survey noticed that prices of other food grains were remained unchanged in retail market.
Gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram in retail market, while available at Rs 115 per kilogram in wholesale market. The retail price of one-kilogram sugar is Rs 52.
The survey noticed that price of big-size white chana has increased at Rs 160 per kilogram which was selling at Rs 140 per kg in the retail market. Dal chana is available at Rs 120 per kilogram, dal mash at Rs 120 per kilogram, dal masoor at Rs 100 per kg. Dal chilka (green) available at Rs 120 per kilogram, while dal chilka (black) colour is being sold at Rs 140 per kilogram, a one-kilogram white lobiya is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram in retail market. Red bean is available within range of Rs 120-140 and Rs 160 per kilogram in retail market.
Prices of different brands/quality of cooking oil/ghee were remained stable in retail market as no significant increase or change was witnessed in the previous week, the survey noticed.
According to the survey, a marginal decrease in price of fruits was witnessed in retail market. A visible decrease in price of mango was witnessed as available at Rs 80 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 120-140 per kilogram. Melon is being sold at Rs 30 per kilogram against the price of Rs 25 per kilogram in previous week.
A piece of water melon is available at Rs 60-70. Grapes are being available at Rs 150 per kilogram. Red-colour apples are being sold at Rs 200-250 per kilogram, while green-colour apple available at Rs 100 per kilogram in retail market. Banana is being sold at Rs 100, Rs 120 and Rs 150 per dozen.
Cow meat is being sold at Rs 400 per kilogram, while beef is available at Rs 750 per kilogram, the survey said. Similarly, it noticed that a litre of fresh milk is being available at Rs 120 against the official price of Rs 90 per litre, while yogurt is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram against the official rate of Rs 80 per kilogram in the retail market.
