The City Traffic Police (CTP) Lahore has deployed additional fleet of traffic wardens to ensure smooth flow of traffic during last few days of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak as the congestion level is significantly increasing with each passing day ahead of Eidul Fitr.
A CTP spokesman said that an additional contingent of 362 wardens including 37 inspectors and 45 patrolling officers have been deployed in and around all major spots including important shops, markets or shopping malls to maintain a smooth flow of traffic in last days of the holy month. He said the traffic plan was prepared keeping in view the convenience of general public and senility of each spot. Separately, he said, around 13 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) will also perform their duties to ensure monitoring of field wardens. "We have also provided 34 fork-lifters and four break-downers to the wardens for taking strict action against persons found doing wrong parking or violating traffic and road safety rules," the spokesman said, adding that force has also been deployed on each exit and entry point of the metropolis.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rai Ijaz said the security and traffic arrangements will be supervised by Superintendent of Police (SP) City Asif Saddique. He further directed to set up road safety camps on and around all major markets so that the people could follow traffic rules and the growing traffic issue could streamline. "All the wardens should adopt zero tolerance policy against one-way drivers and persons involved in wrong parking," the CTO categorically directed.
