Farmanullah Khan, a resident of village Gundi Khankhel, district Lakki Marwat has requested the KP Inspector General of Police (IGP) for provision of protection to him against the Station House Officer (SHO), Sarai Naurang police station.
In an application formally submitted with the office of the IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the complainant stated that he is permanent resident of the village Gundi Khankhel and belongs to a law-abiding family, but due to some family feuds, he for his personal protection has no option than keeping licensed weapons.
The complainant said that on the evening of February 21, 2018, he along with his minor daughter (Hoor) was returning to his house from a clinic of a doctor in his village, wherein the SHO Naurang, Zaheer Khan (Dabang Khan) stopped him and snatched his licensed Kalashnikov.
On showing the license and National Identity Card (NIC), the SHO took documents into possession on the pretext of verifying it and arrested the complainant and registered FIR against him for possessing illegal weapon. However, on the request of the elites of the area, he was released on personal surety and the very next morning, the complainant obtained bail from a local court and deposited documents in this regard with the police station concerned.
On February 22, 2018, a local notable Samiullah on behalf of the complainant called on the SHO concerned and requested the return of the NIC and license of the Kalashnikov. However, the SHO returned only the NIC and declined to return the license.
The complainant added that when he personally visited the police station to receive the license, a police constable told him that the SHO is highly anger over the filing of request for the registration of an FIR against a highly closed persons of the concerned police officer and was waiting for a chance to teach lesson to the complainant and the recovery of the Kalashnikov was that chance gotten by him.
