Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani said on Tuesday that at times it appears that an attempt is being made to roll back the rule of law but the Parliament has to be strong and safe. "And the only way is a democratic and progressive Pakistan, wherein the state institutions are safe and there is rule of law, no issue of missing persons and rights of the poor and downtrodden are protected," he said at a farewell reception here.
He pointed out that Pakistan is passing through a critical situation and it is time for a change, and on one hand the journey from dictatorship to democracy is on while on the other, undemocratic mindset and attitude cannot be done away completely with so far.
Rabbani recalled how Aitzaz Ahsan and he had been hit in the hand with batons outside the Parliament House and he (Rabbani) had to have 12 stitches on his head. He emphasized this was part of the struggle for democracy and still it is continued and would continue.
