Managing Director Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines Limited (SNGPL) Amjad Latif said on Monday that system gas to industry will be restored in March. He was talking to reporters after the inauguration of health, safety & environment week organized by SNGPL. He also said that the company has not suspended the gas supply to any sector and they are supplying Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) to commercial and industrial consumers. However, he said according to the Article 154 of the constitution, first right of availing the gas is of the province from where it is explored. Since Punjab has relatively less number of gas reserves, it doesn't get system gas.
He also said that uninterrupted supply of gas to the domestic consumers is the priority of the company. He said that last year they had given 450,000 gas connections to the domestic consumers and they are further planning to give 600,000 gas connections to the domestic consumers. He said that in Lahore people will get domestic connection in two years while in some areas the waiting period is one year.
While addressing the gathering Amjad Latif said that HSE awareness of employees is very important to reduce workplace accidents and HSE Week promotes awareness among employees regarding HSE initiatives with an objective to eliminate workplace accidents. He further said that Employee engagement for promoting HSE awareness can be best achieved through HSE Week.
On the occasion, Deputy Managing Director (Services) Amer Tufail, Senior General Manager (Business Develo-pment) Syed Jawad Naseem and Senior General Manager (HR) Azam Khan Wazir along with other officers were present.
