National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested Shahid Shafiq, Chief Executive of Bismillah Engineering Company, over corruption charges on the tip off from LDA's ex-DG Ahad Cheema, Aaj News reported Saturday.
Shahid Shafiq's Bismillah Engineering was awarded a contract worth Rs12 billion despite being the C-4 category company. NAB vowed to continue to probe corruption allegations in Ashiana Housing Scheme.
NAB officials obtained important record of former Director General (DG) of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahad Cheema in the said scam and work on his laptop for data recovery was in progress. Cheema was arrested on charges of taking 32 kanal land as a bribe and not appearing before the NAB despite a number of summons issued to him. Punjab government protested against Cheema's arrest whom PTI Chairman Imran Khan called front man of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
