Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and former military ruler Pervez Musharraf will have to face accountability. "No law is person-specific," he stressed while addressing the district leadership while launching membership drive at the party secretariat in Model Town on Thursday.
Bilawal visited the Punjab Secretariat for the first time since he has started political activities in the province. Three representatives from each district were present to welcome him at the secretariat. A good number of female workers were also present on the occasion. He visited the secretariat before joining the provincial leadership on stage. He was offered a blue colour turban by PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira and Manzoor Wattoo.
A bit embarrassed and shy with sweating on his face, Bilawal kept receiving assistance from Kaira throughout his press conference. A box of tissue papers was brought in specially to let him wipe his sweating. While reflecting on the turmoil the ruling PML-N is facing due to back-to-back disqualification of Nawaz, the PPP leader said the system is in no danger, only the ruling party is facing issues. He announced to resume process of holding rallies across Punjab after Senate elections falling on March 3. Party membership procedure will also be expedited across the Punjab, he said, and sought final schedule of the public gatherings from the Punjab wing of PPP and directed them to get ready to exercise political muscles in the province.
He refused to meet Maryam Nawaz ahead of elections and criticised Imran Khan for his 'negative' politics. He also demanded initiation of court proceedings against former president General Pervez Musharraf.
