In the wake of protest by the visually impaired persons in the provincial capital for fulfillment of their demands, a spokesman of Punjab government has narrated steps taken for the welfare of special persons. He said the procedure of requirement of special persons against BPS 5 to 15 is under process in all over Punjab. Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Department Punjab has also advertised 180 seats of BPS 11 for the guidance of SWDs on which the recruitment process is also under progress.
Besides this, Social Welfare Department had itself stripped for jobs of Special persons; not only in Government Department but also recruit the Special persons according to 3 percent quota policy in private organization too. Nearly 4,294 vacancies have been advertised by Government of Punjab, out of which 4,066 Special persons have been recruited. From 4,066 sits 860 visually disable persons are being recruited. Beside this, with the help of Akhuwat Foundation and Punjab Small Industries have arranged micro loans and self-employment scheme for special persons.
According to provincial policy, the special persons have excess to free medical checkup and education. More than 1550 visually disabled persons got jobs in Government Departments. More than 88,000 Khidmat Cards had been issued to register special person with Social Protection Authority out of which 13,000 are visually impaired persons
The spokesman said in near future, the Punjab government will launch new programmes for special persons. He further deliberated that discrimination with any category of special person is not our policy.
