The President and Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir on Friday while slamming Indian atrocities against the people of occupied Kashmir and regular violations on the Line of Control (LoC) have urged the global community and United Nations (UN) to take a serious notice of the situation.
Addressing at a press conference here, Prime Minister AJK Raja Farooq Haider said Indian troops are particularly targeting schoolchildren, hospital vans, women and aged people at the LoC.
He said Indian aggressive designs are major threat to peace in South Asia. He urged world powers to pay attention to core issue of Kashmir and resolve it in line with the UN resolutions. Haider said that since 1998 the Indian Army has been targeting innocent civilians across the Line of Control.
"I must salute the brave citizens who have withstood the Indian attacks," he said. Haider said that these tactics are being employed by the Indian army to exert mental pressure on Pakistan. He said that Modi is trying to engage Pakistan with a series of hostile attacks in order to improve his image domestically ahead of elections.
Farooq Haider also lamented the political situation in Pakistan and urged the country to take up the issue of Kashmir at the United Nations in an effective way. "Everyone in Pakistan are at daggers drawn with each other hence the Indian army is attacking us," he said.
He urged the international community to take notice of Modi's hostilities, especially after his electoral loss at Uttar Pradesh. He alleged that the Indian prime minister is trying to engage Pakistan in a war so that his popularity may surge in India. The AJK President Sardar Masood in a statement lauded role of Pak Army to respond to Indian firing in a befitting manner. He said Indian troops always target innocent citizens including school children.
Sardar Masood said Pak Army knows how to respond to Indian firing but they remain peaceful and avoid hitting civilians. Pakistan Army on Thursday destroyed an Indian army post on Line of Control in Tatta Pani, district Kotli, AJK, wherefrom Indian army was targeting innocent citizens.
Masood Khan has strongly condemned the deliberate targeting of a school van carrying children in Battal sector by the Indian forces. Indian fire on the school van led to the martyrdom of the driver. The President paid tribute to the martyred driver and the brave citizens living along the Line of Control (LOC).
He said that such cowardly violations of the ceasefire agreement have exposed the real face of India who targets children, elderly and womenfolk. "We will not be intimidated by these shameless and horrendous acts of terror. India must be ready for the consequences." The President said that such acts of killing unarmed people are a clear violation of the Geneva Convention and the deafening silence of the International community is deplorable.
He added that the people living along the LOC are the bravest citizens who face constant shelling and fire from Indian posts thickly spread across the bordering areas. Furthermore, the President AJK praised the commitment of Pakistan's armed forces and said that the whole nation stands behind its soldiers.
He said Pakistan Army has never resorted to first fire and never targets civilians living on the other side of the LOC. "Civilians in IOK are our citizens and we will never target them in retaliation to Indian fire across the LOC," he added.
