Capital Police Friday claimed to have nabbed seven bandits involved in various cases of bank dacoities and motor vehicle thefts, and recovered weapons from their possession. Addressing a press conference, Superintendent of Police City Zone, Muhammad Iqbal said that the City Zone police have nabbed seven criminals involved in different cases of theft and car lifting during the last 30 days. He said that Kohsar police station located arrested two persons involved in looting of Rs 5.4 million from a bank.
Iqbal said that one Nabeel Masih, who used to work as a sweeper in the bank, along with his friend Suleman Sarfraz made a plan to take away money from an ATM machine. "They took away Rs 5.4 million after entering the bank on February 10, 2018 through roof," he said, adding that the police recovered the looted amount from their houses and DVR from the forest area pointed out by them after being arrested.
He further said that two bike-lifters were arrested by Kohsar police station and two bikes were recovered from them.
He said that police also launched operation against drug peddlers and eleven cases were registered during the last one month, besides recovery of huge cache of wine, hashish and heroin from the nabbed persons. About 334 liters wine, 592 bottles of liquor and 1,365 grams hashish were recovered from them while nine pistols, two rifles, a laptop, three bikes, Rs 293,000 cash and Saudi Riyal 500 were also recovered from various criminals during the last one month.
Iqbal said that three persons who stabbed to death Hammad, son of Shafqat Hussain, resident of Sector G-6/1-2, have been also arrested.
