The owner of Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi, along with its players met the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday. Army Chief congratulated team Zalmi on their victory in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017. Peshawar Zalmi, led by Darren Sammy, had defeated Sarfraz Ahmed's Quetta Gladiators in the exciting contest that took place in Lahore.
ISPR DG Major General Asif Ghafoor was also present during the meeting. He tweeted about the incident, "We are soldiers of Pakistan and stand with Pak Army in promoting peace & national harmony. Acknowledge sacrifices by Army for bringing peace and stability".
Peshawar Zalmi met CoAS. Pakistan is peace and sports loving country. Cricket is Pakistan's most favorite sport that unites nation. Conveyed thanks for foreign players", he added. General Bajwa gave suggestions to the players at which they thanked him. The visiting players and management thanked CoAS for the support. The players assured CoAS that they are soldiers of Pakistan and stand with Pak Army in promoting peace and national harmony.
