The Karachi Port handled 105,709 tonnes of cargo comprising 84,553 tonnes of import cargo and 21,156 tonnes of export cargo including 4,667 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 84,553 tonnes comprised of 32,961 tonnes of containerised cargo; 47,720 tonnes of bulk cargo: 39,329 tonnes of coal; 2,541 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 5,850 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 3,872 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,156 tonnes comprised of 15,299 tonnes of containerised cargo; 120 tonnes of general cargo; 5,737 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,137 tonnes of iron powder and 2,600 tonnes of barium sulphate. As many as 4,667 containers comprising of 2,300 containers import and 2,367 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 830 of 20's and 629 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 106 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 461 of 20's and 224 of 40's loaded containers while 510 of 20's and 474 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Kota Lahir, KMTC Dubai, N Mars and IVS Crimson Creek carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were two vessels viz. Puma and Tan Binh-127 carrying oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Lissy Schulte, Taroko and Ever Reliance carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Olivia carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Friday.
There were four vessels viz. Alexandria Bridge, Sabya, Al Mahboobah and Jin Run carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively due to arrive on Thursday while three vessels viz. Pacific Beryl, Polaris Melody and Da Cai Yun carrying oil tanker, palm kernel expeller and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 117,993 tonnes comprising 83,147 tonnes of import cargo and 34,846 tonnes of export cargo including 3,644 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 83,147 tonnes includes 17,980 tonnes of furnace oil; 11,250 tonnes of palm oil; 15,000 tonnes of LNG; 4,527 tonnes of LPG and 34,390 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 34,846 tonnes includes 34,846 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,644 containers comprising of 1,810 containers import and 1,834 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There was one ship namely MT Balsam carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV CMA CGM Uruguay and MT Globe Tanya carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Maersk Salina, CV Maersk Columbus, CV CMA CGM Uruguay, MT Globe Tanya, MT Umm Bab, MT Balsam and Bunga Azalea currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, LNG, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fouryteen ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV MSC Didem, MV Chance, MV Ocean Quartz, MV Gas Chem Antarctic, MT Ardmore Sealion, MT Glorious, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al Dasma, MT Karachi, MT Torm Valborg, MT Harmony-1, MT Shalamar and MT Lahore carrying containers, canola seeds, project cargo, chemical, mao gas, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV MSC Didem, CV Sea Hymn, MV Ocean Quartz and MV Chance carrying containers, project cargo and canola seeds expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Grain & Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were nine ships namely CV Maersk Salina, CV MSC Al Ghero, CV MSC Rita, CV Sea Hymn, MV Pacific Award, MT Al-Saad, MT Bneider, MT Lahore and Torm Valborg carrying containers, coal, LNG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There is one ship namely CV Tucapel carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
