KMC to organise medical camps in DMCs

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation KMC will organize free medical checkup camps in all six District Municipal Corporations (DMCs) of the city from this month and first camp will be held in Korangi district on March 12 on Sunday, at Korangi 3 Number. The free medical checkups by KMC is being organised because a large number of people in the city cannot afford to have test done at private laboratories and provide them free facilities to their medical checkup, provide help in medical treatment facilities if found ailments after the checkup, PPI learnt on Thursday.
These six free medical camps in all six districts are being organised on the directives of mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar, who wanted to provide possible medical treatment facilities to citizens through KMC health department. The decision to this effect was taken keeping in view the exorbitant prices of medical tests. The Mayor has directed City Institute of Image Management (CIIM) to activate the KMC's health department and provide free medical checkup services to all common citizens so that people may get treatment started on time if they have any ailment.

Sindh Government, districts municipal corporations and NGOs will collaborate with the KMC to organize these medial camps. A well-reputed private lab is helping KMC provide the facilities of free medical checkup to citizens. The tests to be done include blood sugar, cholesterol, dental, blood pressure, bones mineral density (BMD), ECG, Hepatitis B scanning and vaccination, eyesight (with cataract operation), Spirometry (Asthma), Pulmonary Function test and general OPD. The camp also includes OPD and free medicines of homeopathic. The schedule of other five districts will be announced later. Deputy mayor Arshad Vohra will inaugurate the camp in Korangi No 3 at a model park, while mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar will be the chief guest of closing ceremony of the medial camp.
