NEPRA hearing on 29th: K-E demands 47.86 paisa/unit hike under FCA for Oct

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will meet in Islamabad on November 29 to hear the K-Electric's request that has sought 407.86 paisa per unit tariff hike on account of Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for October 2016.
In its plea to the NEPRA the K-Electric has shown an increase of Rs 723.2 million under total fuel cost variation for the same period. Of which, Rs 196.7 million from own generation whereas some Rs 526.4 million hike from the external power sources. KE said that Rs 1.51 billion sent out units during the said month.
The power consumers and stakeholders have expressed their intense desire to attend the hearing in Karachi instead of Islamabad. Expressing dismay on NEPRA's announced venue, they reiterated their position stressing that the hearing should have been called in Karachi because the FCA matter pertains to 2.2 million power consumers here.
It should be mentioned here that K-Electric's Multi Year Tariff (MYT) has expired in June this year. According to NEPRA, the power company has already submitted a petition for determination of its new MYT which is under NEPRA's process. The Power Utility's request to allow FCA for October 2016 is on provisional basis. The regulatory body has decided to hold public hearing on November 29 at the NEPRA Tower Islamabad.
