After Benazir, NZ PM becomes 2nd world leader to give birth while in office

Prime minister of New Zealand on Thursday became the second world leader to give birth while serving the duty as head of government. Jacinda Ardern was admitted to a hospital in Auckland early on Thursday morning. Ardern who had continued to work right up until the birth, has handed her duties to the Deputy PM Winston Peters.

Pakistan's former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto also gave birth to her first child in 1990 while in office.

New Zealand PM gave birth to her first child, a baby girl whose name is yet to disclosed. Ardern announced the birth of her daughter on Instagram writing, " Feeling very lucky to have a healthy baby girl that arrived at 4.45pm weighing 3.31kg (7.3lb) Thank you so much for your best wishes and your kindness. We're all doing really well thanks to the wonderful team at Auckland City Hospital."

On January 19, she announced her pregnancy shortly after winning office in October last year. The 37-year-old Ardern is the youngest PM New Zealand has had since 1856.
