After creating first smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo is back at it again by introducing an all-display smartphone with no notch.

Where Lenovo failed to introduce an all-screen smartphone, Vivo did it by revealing its new smartphone called Vivo Nex. The smartphone managed to ditch the usual notch design that contains the ear piece, front camera, and various cameras. Where previous smartphone cameras were unable to remove the notch, Vivo has found a solution to re-locate them all.

Because of eliminating the notch, the phone has a 91.2% screen-to-body ratio in comparison with iPhone X’s 83% ration, as calculated by GSM Arena.

Turns out Lenovo’s all-screen smartphone was just a lie

Business Insider described that the selfie camera pops-out from the smartphone whenever user wishes to take selfies. Also, Vivo Nex has an invisible in-display fingerprint sensor instead of being located at the back or front. However, the company did not further reveal about where the other sensors were located.

As of for the ear piece, the screen of the phone has itself been used as the speaker, thus no need for the ear piece. With the help of its ‘Screen SoundCasting’ technology, the audio waves are transmitted through the display themselves, which Vivo regards as even better than the normal ear piece that makes use of a tiny speaker. According to Vivo, this technology ‘enhances sound quality with more powerful bass, and softer, smoother treble’.

Apart from these physical features, Vivo Nex comes with an 8GB RAM with an 8MP front, hidden, camera. Unfortunately, Vivo Nex will solely be available in China, wrote Engadget.
