ISLAMABAD: Fatima Jinnah Park popularly known as Capital Park or F-9 Park is attracting a large number of visitors and domestic tourists from various parts of the country due its beautiful jogging tracks and children Park.
The Park is a public recreational place and is situated within the F-9 sector of Islamabad. It is so named after Miss Fatima Jinnah, the younger sister of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father of the nation .
The park's builder, Michael Japero, took five years to design it.
The design of Metropolitan Club was prepared by renowned Architect Nayyar Ali Dada. Spreading over an area of 22 acres with covered area of 265,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art facility has number of features including main entrance lobby, atrium, cigar lounge, lounge area, pantry and preparation kitchen, party hall, ladies / gents toilets, restaurants, indoor pool area, electrical and mechanical room, gym and pool lobby, gymnasium, aerobic area, administration offices, main kitchen lift lobby, terraces, snooker area, snack bar area, men/ women sauna, fitness centre and library. Most of the park area is effectively a wildlife sanctuary, except for a few areas of the park that are close to residential districts.
The park is bounded by a steel fence with entrance doors placed at regular intervals, although only a few are routinely open and used. A further strip of land outside of the fence is lined with a footpath.
A well laid network of footpaths and jogging tracks lies inside the park, with neat grass and a few statues.Some of the people are visiting the jogging tracks in routine, while some enjoying walk and exercise on the weekend with their families and even children can be seen enjoying on the tracks.
Rasheed Sal a regular visitor said that he used to come on jogging tracks of F-9 Park on daily basis along with his friends and family. He said it is really beautiful facility for the residents of Islamabad to enjoy walk and exercise in green and beautiful park.
Ameena another visitor said that she comes to the F-9 Park on every weekend along with her family, saying that it was a good source for exercise and entertainment for them.
The Civic body’s proposed future design for the park will include lakes, rock gardens, aquariums, and fountains.
The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) recently inaugurated a Metropolitan Club at F-9 Park, an outstanding addition to the recreational and amusement facilities in the federal capital.
Deputy Mayor Islamabad Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi told APP that MCI was committed to improve the infrastructure of healthy recreational, amusement and entertainment facilities in the city.
