LHC issues notice to Sharifs, PEMRA over anti-judiciary speeches

The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued on Tuesday notices to deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) regarding anti-judiciary speeches.
A petition was filed against the father-daughter duo for their contemptuous remarks against the judiciary. The petition also stated that Sharif was instigating the masses to react against the judiciary and therefore they should put a stop to it.
The petition also reads that PEMRA had done nothing to stop the broadcast of the speeches, local media reported. The LHC has sought the Sharifs and PEMRA's reply by March 15.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had dismissed petitions against Nawaz, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others pertaining to contempt of court.
