The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Thursday dismissed as fake a notification circulating on social media claiming that TikTok had been banned in Pakistan.

In a statement, the authority clarified that it had not issued any such notification, describing the circulating information as false and misleading.

The PTA urged the public not to share or rely on unverified information on social media and advised citizens to obtain authentic updates only through its official website and verified social media accounts.

Meanwhile, TikTok has removed more than 23.24 million videos in Pakistan between April and June 2026 for violating its Community Guidelines, according to its Q2 2026 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report.

Globally, the platform has removed over 188.2 million videos during the same period. The report provides an overview of TikTok’s enforcement efforts during the quarter, including data on content removals and account actions in Pakistan and worldwide.

In Pakistan, the video removal rate stood at 1.1 percent. Of these, 99.7 percent were detected and taken down proactively, while 94.5 percent were taken down within 24 hours of posting. Meanwhile, 519,075 videos were restored following further review.
