LAHORE: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has described overseas Pakistanis as ambassadors of Islam and Pakistan, urging them to use their skills, experience and international connections to contribute to the country’s development and prosperity.

He was addressing the two-day annual convention of the JI Overseas Forum, titled Jazb-e-Baham 2026, held at Mansoorah in Lahore, which brought together delegates from across the world.

“We must work together for Pakistan’s development, prosperity and a brighter future,” Hafiz Naeem said, emphasising the importance of positive representation of Pakistan and Islam, stronger connections among overseas Pakistanis and collective efforts for the country’s progress.

The convention was chaired by Overseas Forum Director Razi Muhammad Wali. The forum’s supervisor, JI Vice Emir Dr Ataur Rehman, and Acting Secretary General Nazir Ahmad Janjua also attended the gathering, along with representatives of the forum’s organisational chapters in various countries.

Rehman urged overseas Pakistanis to strengthen mutual cooperation, promote a positive image of their country and religion, and play an active role in Pakistan’s development by drawing on their professional expertise and international networks.

Held under the theme “Shared Vision, United Purpose, Strong Connections,” the convention featured reports on the forum’s activities and presentations on various aspects of its work.

Participants discussed ways to improve organisational understanding, clarify responsibilities, strengthen coordination and establish future priorities. Group discussions provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and identify effective practices for the forum’s work across different countries.

The discussions also focused on strengthening engagement with overseas Pakistani communities, expanding welfare services and making the forum’s outreach and coordination more effective.

The two-day event aimed to bring the forum’s international chapters closer together, improve coordination among their activities, share experiences and successful practices, and develop a common understanding of future priorities.

The participation of delegates from different countries provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and identify practical ways to advance the forum’s shared objectives.
