HYDERABAD: The Sindh University (SU) Jamshoro, and its four campuses — Thatta Campus, Laar Campus Badin, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Campus Dadu, and Khan Bahadur Syed Allahndo Shah Campus Naushehro Feroze — successfully completed the second phase of the pre-entry test for admission to bachelor’s degree programmes for the 2027 academic session. A total of 10,807 male and female candidates appeared in the test across the five campuses.

Comprehensive arrangements were made at the main campus in Jamshoro and the four other campuses to ensure strict security and provide assistance and guidance to candidates and their accompanying parents. The test commenced simultaneously at all campuses at 10:00 a.m. and concluded at 11:30 a.m., after 90 minutes.

A press briefing was organised at the Institute of Arts and Design, University of Sindh, where Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri (TI) briefed the media on the test and the admission process.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said the Sindh University had its own testing centre, which conducted tests for thousands of candidates in two phases every year and announced the results on the same day. He said the centre was a model of quality, transparency and complete confidentiality, adding that no question paper of any test conducted by the centre had ever been leaked.

Dr. Marri said the university granted admissions strictly on merit, leaving no room for favouritism or injustice.

He advised candidates who had appeared in the test and their parents to remain confident and wait for the merit lists. He urged them not to pay attention to rumours about admissions or fall for false assurances from anyone. He stressed that no individual had the authority to secure admission for a candidate at the university and that anyone making such a claim was telling an outright lie.

The Vice Chancellor said the entire admission system was computerised and the merit lists would be generated automatically according to each candidate’s merit. He said candidates did not need to approach anyone or worry about the process.

Sharing details of the second phase, Dr. Marri said a total of 10,807 male and female candidates had appeared in the test at the university and its four campuses, including 7,562 male and 3,245 female candidates. Of these, 9,773 candidates had appeared at the main campus in Jamshoro, while the remaining candidates had taken the test at the other campuses.

He further said that the total number of male and female applicants who had applied for admission through both phases of the pre-entry test, as well as for BS third-year and master’s programmes, stood at 22,580. He said the participation of 22,580 applicants in the admission process reflected their confidence in the university.

The Vice Chancellor added that candidates who had been unable to appear in the first phase for any reason had also been given another opportunity in the second phase. Separate blocks had been established for them, where more than 100 male and female candidates had appeared in the test.

Describing the Sindh University as the second-oldest university in the country, Dr. Marri said it maintained high academic standards and its degrees enjoyed considerable recognition both in Pakistan and abroad. He said all academic departments of the university are important and advised candidates not to waste the opportunity if they were offered admission to any department among their selected preferences. He encouraged them to work hard, prove their abilities and build a successful future.
