ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has called for a firm and coordinated international response to any attempt to alter the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its Holy Sites, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over Occupied East Jerusalem or the wider Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM) Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said this while addressing the Joint Arab League–Group of Four Islamic Countries (Pakistan, Türkiye, Malaysia and Indonesia) Ministerial Meeting on Jerusalem.
The DPM/FM said continued violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, settlement expansion, settler violence and forced displacement required sustained international vigilance and collective action.
Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian Holy Sites and the exclusive jurisdiction of the Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department over Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
He urged the international community to mobilise support for preserving Jerusalem’s historical and legal status quo, reject unilateral measures aimed at changing the character, identity or status of the city, and support the role of relevant Jordanian institutions in safeguarding the Holy Sites.
The Deputy Prime Minister also called for the full and faithful implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and other relevant resolutions, saying the opportunity created by ongoing diplomatic efforts must be translated into tangible progress. Resolution 2803, adopted by the Security Council on November 17, 2025, endorsed the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.
Dar stressed that lasting peace requires the realisation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign, viable and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue working closely with Arab and Islamic countries in support of these objectives, stressing that unity and collective resolve were particularly important at the current critical juncture.
