Govt raises petrol price by Rs4.10, diesel by Rs6.41 per litre

  • It is the seventh straight hike in petroleum prices in Pakistan
Published Updated

The government further increased the price of petrol by Rs4.10 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs6.41 per litre, effective till Wednesday, September 16, 2026, marking the seventh consecutive hike in petroleum prices.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Tuesday revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The price of Motor Spirit (petrol) was raised by Rs4.10 per litre, taking it from Rs380.24 to Rs384.34 per litre.

HSD saw a hike of Rs6.41 per litre, rising from Rs409.42 to Rs415.83 per litre.

In the previous review, effective from Tuesday, September 15, the government had raised the price of petrol to Rs380.24 per litre and HSD to Rs409.42 per litre.

Since September 1, the price of petrol has risen by Rs41.55 per litre and HSD by Rs45.42 per litre.

On Tuesday, Oil prices rose nearly $3 after a report said oil loadings at Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea port of Yanbu have been suspended, and Libya halted operations at three oil fields, heightening concerns that disruptions to key oil supply routes could persist for weeks.

Brent crude futures were up $2.81, or 2.66%, at $108.49 a barrel at 1106 a.m. ET (1506 GMT), while U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures were up $3.29 at $104.68 a barrel.

If prices hold, both contracts would be on track to close at their highest in nearly four months.
