LAHORE: Officers and personnel of the Punjab Police remained on high alert and performed security duties during Christian prayer services held at churches across the province.
Earlier, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem had issued directions to RPOs, DPOs and senior police officers to enhance security at churches. He directed supervisory officers to personally check security arrangements at churches, important and sensitive locations.
Additional police personnel and snipers should be deployed at sensitive churches, while teams of Dolphin Squad, PRU and Elite Force should ensure effective patrolling around churches.
IG Punjab directed that the deployed police officers and personnel remain highly alert and keep a close watch on miscreant elements. Search and sweep operations should also continue around churches, Christian communities and sensitive locations.
Abdul Kareem said that religious scholars, members of the Christian community and peace committee members should promote interfaith harmony.
