KARACHI: A meeting of the Board of Management of Sindh Livestock Registration and Trade Authority was held at Sindh Institute of Animal Health (SIAH) Karachi under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister Livestock and Fisheries Sindh Muhammad Ali Malkani.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, DG Sindh Livestock Registration and Trade Authority Dr. Nazir Hussain Kalhoro, Additional Secretary Finance, Deputy Secretary Livestock Muhammad Imran, and representatives of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research Islamabad.

The participants reviewed various proposals regarding developing the livestock sector in Sindh on modern lines, making the registration system effective and improving the identification and records of livestock.

In the meeting, to formally activate the Sindh Livestock Registration and Trade Authority, to prepare the rules and regulations of the authority Matters related to the establishment of various committees and the appointment of the Director General were considered and the agenda was approved.

The Board of Management also approved the agenda for restarting the tagging and traceability project under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

The project will help organize the identification, movement and records of livestock under a modern system, which will further improve transparency in livestock production and trade.

Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Sindh Muhammad Ali Malkani while addressing the meeting said that the Sindh government is taking practical steps to develop the livestock sector and align it with modern requirements.

He said that better care of cattle, increase in quality milk and meat production as well as promotion of exports of live stock products are among the top priorities of the government.

Muhammad Ali Malkani said that with the modern system of effective registration, tagging and traceability, not only transparency in the livestock sector and Monitoring will be better, but by promoting quality milk and meat production, access to domestic and international markets from Sindh will also be made easier.
