KARACHI: The Karachi administration on Tuesday announced a reduction in the ex-mill price of wheat flour following a meeting with flour mill owners aimed at easing prices for consumers.
Chaired by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi on the directives of Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah, the meeting decided to reduce the ex-mill flour price from Rs133 per kilogram to Rs130 per kilogram with immediate effect.
Officials said the price would be further reduced to Rs125 per kilogram once wheat supplies improve.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team Bilal Ahmed Memon, Food Secretary Ghulam Abbas, Pakistan Flour Mills Association Chairman Junaid Aziz and other association representatives, as well as senior officials of the Karachi administration.
Participants also agreed to intensify action against profiteering and hoarding to help ensure the availability of flour at lower prices and prevent artificial shortages in the market.
