Regional challenges: Iran’s envoy for greater bilateral cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam on Friday called for greater bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Iran to address regional challenges.

“Pakistan has played a constructive diplomatic role in facilitating negotiations and advancing efforts toward regional peace and stability,” Ambassador Moghadam said. “Strengthening our bilateral cooperation is essential for addressing contemporary security challenges in West Asia.”

He made these remarks during his keynote speech at a roundtable discussion organized by the Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS).

Titled “Pakistan-Iran Relations and Strategic Stability in West Asia,” the event brought together diplomats, academics, defence analysts and researchers to examine the future of Pakistan-Iran ties, the evolving strategic environment in West Asia and the broader geopolitical implications of recent regional developments.

Amb Ali Sarwar Naqvi, executive director of the centre, said the intensification of regional tensions has created new uncertainties for peace, stability, maritime security and global energy markets, underscoring the need for constructive regional engagement.

Amb Moinul Haque, director general of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, praised the Iranian people’s resilience and national unity during the recent conflict, saying their collective resolve was vital in confronting the challenges posed by the crisis.
