ISLAMABAD: Domestic flight operations resumed at Bahawalpur Airport on Wednesday as a private airline launched regular services linking Karachi, Bahawalpur and Islamabad, a move expected to boost travel, trade, investment and tourism in South Punjab.
An Inaugural ceremony was held at Bahawalpur Airport to mark the arrival of the airline’s first domestic flight from Karachi. Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza, senior airport officials, members of the district administration, and representatives from the business, industrial and social sectors attended the event.
After arriving in Bahawalpur, the aircraft departed for Islamabad, completing the airline’s newly launched domestic route.
Speakers at the ceremony described the restoration of domestic air connectivity as a significant step towards the economic and social development of South Punjab. They said improved air links would facilitate easier, safer and more efficient travel while encouraging trade, investment and tourism across the region.
Participants also called for an increase in flight frequency and the expansion of air services to other major cities to further strengthen regional connectivity. They termed the private airline’s initiative an important milestone for Bahawalpur and the wider South Punjab region.
